Congratulations
Hi friends!
I’m Calista, owner of Bump To Baby Mothering Services.
What I do;
I am a local certified birth and postpartum doula serving the Magic Valley and surrounding areas. I am here to support you emotionally, informationally, and physically through this new phase in life; pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum and everything in between. I specialize in antepartum and placenta encapsulation. I am also in the process of adding bereavement to my specialties.
I have spent the majority of my adult life in the medical field and have grown and continue to from these experiences. My goal is to ultimately become a midwife.
I am married to my high school sweetheart of 10 years, together we have 3 wonderful children, Piper, Paxton and our newest addition Penelope. (The three “P’s” in a pod if you will.) They truly have had a major impact in my passion for birth work.
Fun facts about me;
✨I am an adventure junkie, I love being outdoors and exploring.
✨ I’m on several commissions, councils and committees and am always advocating for our future generations.
✨ I have travelled to a great variety of countries and believe heavily in the importance of cultural diversity, I look forward to continuing to expand my knowledge.
I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your journey.
As your doula I will offer emotional, physical and informational support to the expecting mother during and throughout their pregnancy and birth. It has been proven that doulas may help to shorten the length of labor, reduce epidural and analgesics requests and reduce the incidence of a cesarean.

Doulas and midwives as well as other Healthcare providers (OB/GYN) are a team!
Doulas offer emotional, physical and informational support to mothers during and throughout their pregnancy and birth. It has been proven that Doulas may help to shorten the length of labor, reduce epidural and analgesics requests and reduce the incidence of a cesarean.
Midwives provide medical care either within the hospital, home or birth center throughout pregnancy during prenatal appointments, birth and postpartum. They initiate care of the newborn, and you follow up with them.
Having a doula to help support you even though you have your midwife, your OB, your nurses, or your family is still so important. You essentially need the extra support during your pregnancy and through your labor and delivery.
Doulas can help to:
Reduce the use of pitocin by 31%
Fewer requests for pain meds by 9%
Less likely to use forceps or vacuum by
Reduced cesarean rate by 28%
Better Apgar scores for baby by 38%
Better satisfaction with birth overall
Positive long term memories
Decreased anxiety
Increased confidence
Boosted self esteem
Improved postpartum mental health
Family bonding and support for partners and siblings
Increased movement
Improved relaxation
Comfort and reassurance
Lactation support
This is a really good read on what a doula does!
As a doula, I do NOT perform any exams physically. Doulas do not give medical advice, diagnose conditions or do medical procedures. We do not and can not make decisions for our clients.
Multiple studies have found that the presence of a trained doula can benefit everyone. These studies have consistently shown that doula care is associated with shorter labors, less use of epidurals and other pain medications, lower episiotomy rates, and as much as a 50% reduction in the caesarean rate. Research also shows that having a doula leads to better clinical outcomes for both the baby and the mother. This includes fewer admissions to neonatal special care units, better breastfeeding rates, and better family bonding. Doulas also support and provide care to the mother's partner and other family members, as well as increasing a mothers overall satisfaction with her birthing experience.
Yes, of course! A doula will continue to care for the woman and her family by offering emotional and informational support. As well as still offering physical support, helping to change positions and much more. I doula will also help in early labor and then during the epidural placement.
A doula does NOT replace anybody. We work together as members of the birth team and everyone has their own role. Partners are often grateful to share the "coaching" responsibility with someone more experienced and can enjoy the process more.
